8 creative art lessons using drawing, painting and sculpture methods based on animals seen at the Utah Hogle Zoo.

June
7, 8: Quick sketching, art bags & Sketchbooks: learn how to quick
sketch to be prepared for our field trip to the Zoo. Decorate your drawstring
bag and sketchbook to take on the field trip or use for the summer classes.

9/12-10:00-2:00: Zoo Seek & Sketch Field Trip: please pre-order your tickets and sketch
books by June 7. (more info below)
June
14/15: Oil Pastel Elephants: Using Oil pastel on black paper we
will learn how to draw an elephant.
June
28, 29: Model Magic Monkeys: Using
Crayola model magic we will make a relief sculpture of monkeys on canvas.
July
12, 13: Rainbow Zebra Acrylic
Paintings: Come paint these colorful zebras with acrylic on canvas!
July
19, 20: Tiger Symmetry Prints: A new lesson using a neat printing technique
for the tiger’s face.
July
26, 27: Watercolor Giraffes: Learn how to draw and paint giraffes
August
2,3: Mixed Media Bears: Using a variety of art mediums such as
markers, crayons recycled papers, and glue we will create some colorful mixed
media bears.
August 9,10: Crocodile Water soluble
pastels: These are a fun pastel that turns into paint once you add water.
Advanced Ages 10-12 Class
**The advanced
10-12 class uses some different mediums that require more maturity and special
care to use. We focus more on advanced drawing skills and technique.

13: Zentangle Elephants: We will use black marker for our elephants
and designs over watercolor backgrounds.

27: Illustration Marker Monkeys:
Draw monkeys and forest habitat using double ended brush tip markers
July
11: Rainbow Zebra Prismacolor Pencil:
Using soft core colored pencils on illustration board is a fun way to draw
colorful zebras.
July
18: Wood Burning Zoo Animals: A
tradition and favorite of students, we will wood burn zoo animal designs.
July

FIELD TRIP INFORMATION
Seek & Sketch ZOO Field Trip Enhance your child’s educational experience for these summer art classes by attending this field trip at the Utah Hogle Zoo. This field trip is not mandatory but highly recommended. Art students will receive a sketch book and bag the first week of classes for the field trip and summer. Additional sketch books will be available for purchase at checkout for any family members who would like to participate! Our ticket price is $3 off for adults and $2 off per child but you must be registered by the deadline for the discount.

10:00-2:00 Field trip hours, (9:00-6:00 ZOO HOURS)
Ticket Costs: (must pre-order by June 7)
Adults/Ages 13+: $21.00
Children/Ages 3-12: $18.00
Ages 2 & under: Free
**Carpool options will be available upon request
**Children under age 10 must be accompanied by a Parent/Guardian for the Field Trip
